A recognition guide for the Carrera chronographs in the 1970's (automatic) style case --
Dials and Hands

The 1970's (automatic) style Carreras used three primary styles of dials and four primary styles of hands, as shown below. These styles are applicable to the Carreras in stainless steel cases, with corresponding executions for the gold cases.

first execution dial: single inserts on hour markers, except double inserts at 12:00

first execution dial: single inserts on hour markers, except double inserts at 12:00

second execution dial: double inserts for all hour markers.

third execution dial: long thin markers for all hours.

first execution hands: polished steel hands, with black and luminous inserts

second execution hands: thin "pencil" style hands; steel with painted edges, with black and luminous inserts

third execution hands: fat "pencil" style hands; steel with painted edges, with black and luminous inserts

fourth execution hands: thin "pencil" style hands; painted edges, with full-length luminous inserts
