Memorials for Chuck Maddox

Many of you have asked about appropriate memorial donations or tributes in memory of Chuck, and I wanted to provide some information. I spoke with Chuck's sister, Laurie, and she wanted to express her gratitude for the support and prayers during this difficult period. She was overwhelmed to hear of the hundreds of messages that have been posted on the Discussion Forums, and she found great comfort in some of the messages that I read to her. Here is Chuck's Obituary, which also includes information about the funeral and visitation.

Laurie has suggested that -- rather than sending flowers -- friends may make donations either to the American Cancer Society or the charity of their choice. [Indeed, showing a touch of the Maddox humor, even in her hours of grief, Laurie remarked that Chuck was not much of a "flower guy" and would have preferred that our money go to a charitable cause.] The American Cancer Society as an Online Donation Form that you can use or you can make donations by phone or by mail, using the information that appears here. Chuck's mother died of cancer, so the ACS was a favorite charity.

If you might want to send Laurie a note, or have your donation acknowledged with a message to Laurie, her address is 36 W 482 Ferson Creek Rd, Saint Charles, IL 60174. You could also send Laurie an e-mail message, at lmaddox11@gmail.com.

Finally, many of you have written messages expressing the hope that all of Chuck's incredible online resources will remain available, even after he has passed away. Many of us are determined to accomplish this, and Laurie would also like to see Chuck's amazing work remain available. We will let you know when additional details are available; in the meanwhile, we can continue to browse Chuck's index page and the many folders beneath it, by visiting his legendary Watch articles written by Chuck Maddox webpage.
